Food for residents living with dementia

An estimated 487,500 Australians are living with dementia. Royal Freemasons is proud to provide specialist dementia care for over 1,300 residents in all of our 16 residential aged care homes in Melbourne and regional Victoria. One of the many ways in which we support residents living with dementia is by serving them appetising, nutritious meals every day, which are made from fresh, seasonal produce.

As dementia progresses in a person, they can develop dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), so we provide residents who have these needs with easily digestible, pureed food formed in shapes they can recognise and enjoy.

More information on our pureed, moulded food initiative is available on the following video.
